The people behind the print

Good people.
Great impressions.

A familiar face at every stage.
Meet the people who bring your print to life.

Kurtis at Acorn Printing

Ownership & production

Kurtis

Kurtis has spent 28 years making sure the details are right.

More about Kurtis

While some owners spend their days in meetings, Kurtis is more likely to be on the production floor, checking a press sheet, reviewing a proof or figuring out how to make a job run a little smarter. He knows the business from the ground up—and he still likes being close to the work.

As one of the youngest owners in the industry when he started, Kurtis learned early that great printing is about more than putting ink on paper. It’s about precision, consistency, problem-solving and delivering on a promise.

Over nearly three decades, he’s continued to embrace new technology, refine processes and raise the bar for quality and efficiency.

Ed at Acorn Printing

Ownership & client service

Ed

Ed is the heart and backbone of Acorn Printing. He has been part of the printing industry for longer than most of us can remember. His journey began when he and his wife, Sylvia, opened their own print shop. From there, he moved into paper sales with a major distributor before ultimately becoming a joint owner of Acorn Printing in 1989.

More about Ed

Ed is known for his kind heart, incredible memory, and mischievous sense of humour. Most of all, his genuine care for people shines through in the way he treats every client, whether they’re a long-standing customer or a first-time visitor. For Ed, every client matters, and that commitment to people has been at the heart of his work throughout the years.

Rich at Acorn Printing

Offset printing

Rich

Rich is a master craftsman and an integral part of Acorn Printing. An offset press is only as good as the pressman who operates it, and we are incredibly fortunate to have one of the best in the business. His incredible eye for detail, technical know-how and innate ability to run a flawless job are skills that are rarely found.

More about Rich

Rich takes great pride in his work, and it shows in every job that comes off the press. His dedication to quality and his commitment to getting every detail just right are a big part of what makes Acorn Printing stand out.

Harry at Acorn Printing

Finishing & fulfilment

Harry

Harry is our entire post-press department, and somehow, he manages to do the work of many. Once a job comes off the press, it’s Harry’s responsibility to cut, fold, collate, hole-punch, laminate, sort, box and ship it — all with remarkable efficiency and speed.

More about Harry

As the final set of eyes on every job, we rely on Harry to make sure everything that leaves Acorn Printing meets our high standards for quality. His attention to detail and dedication to getting the job done right make him an invaluable part of our team.

And every so often, Harry provides a little musical entertainment to keep things interesting — an added bonus that we’re always happy to enjoy!

Connie at Acorn Printing

Accounting & operations

Connie

Connie’s connection to the printing industry spans generations. While accounting is her main role at Acorn Printing, you’ll often find her helping out in the back shop — where her roots in the industry began.

More about Connie

Growing up, Connie spent weekends and holidays alongside her mother at the bindery where she worked. Eventually, her mother took a bold step and started her own bindery business — a remarkable accomplishment in what was, and remains, a predominantly male industry. After raising her own children, Connie returned to work alongside her mother, helping manage the personnel, finances and day-to-day operations of the thriving family business.

When her parents retired and sold the company, Connie stayed on to help ensure a smooth transition. And when that chapter came to an end, she simply moved next door to support another family business — Acorn Printing. Her experience, dedication and deep connection to the industry have made her an invaluable part of the Acorn family.

Bryan at Acorn Printing

Prepress & digital production

Bryan

Bryan is a key member of our prepress team and brings more than 25 years of experience in the printing industry to Acorn Printing. Over the years, he has worked in just about every corner of the business, including customer service, pre-flight, plate-making, bindery, large format, laminating, supervising and digital press operations.

More about Bryan

Bryan has a relentless approach to solving problems. When a troublesome file comes his way, he’s like a dog with a bone — he’ll keep digging, troubleshooting and attacking the issue until it’s resolved. His experience and determination make him the person we can count on to find a way forward.

Today, Bryan runs our digital presses, wide-format equipment and plate maker, making sure that what looks great on-screen looks even better when it comes off the press.
